Pretend kid!!!

This is the first American Apparel model i have actually enjoyed - so much so that I am pretending she is mine.

Grillin' for the city

I totally fell for the design of this ad. I just thought it was simple and pretty and thus I clicked on it.

I would love to have one of these. Grilling seems so fun. You always see those photos and ad's from the 50's with all the happy fun people grilling. No one ever grills when they are sad. A new school of therapy should be started where you have to grill everyday, every meal. I bet you would be happy all the time. I think the Therapist would also have to be chefs then cause your clients would need a reason to come back to you. What better reason than to give them new recipes?

There is no price that I could find on the website but I bet it is worth it.

Get your summer time Granny on!

Potsch says my style would be classified as "Granny Cool". I can't argue really. I think that some of my best memories of childhood all took place at my Granny and my Grandma Waller's houses in North Carolina. Now, i am predisposed to liking Granny style- Warm colorful 50's and 60's. My grannies had style and pizazz. I would say my other style is that of a 6 year old cowgirl but we will save that for another post.
Back to Grannies - I found these shoes and they are perfect Granny summer kickers! I definitely want them in Green...and red..ok all of them.
You can get them here.

Fashion of the Future

Here is a video from 1939 filled with the fashion predictions for the year 2000. I am still kinda stunned that 2000 was 9 years ago. Aren't we supposed to be sailing around on hoover crafts at this point?
I found some of the fashion forecasts to be not too far off.
I also think more men should carry candies for cuties.

You too can look as delicious as bella

I got an email from Teenie this morning notifying me of a gorgeous Bella Swan inspired outerwear jacket from ModCloth ($63.00). I am pretty sure that if I bought this jacket it would turn a small obsession into a dangerous one. Potsch would come home and find me fully dressed up as Bella reciting a loving sonnet to my large Edward Cullen Poster with my Venom lips covered and quivering into a kiss. Awkward.

Oh, yes, they do have Twilight inspired Lip Venom V by DUWop for $16.00.

According to DUWop: This product should be shaken before use to represent the blending of the human and vampire worlds and applied repeatedly until lips are plumped, revitalized and the desired intensity of color has been reached.

Count me in. I accept the title Twihard. I even accept the title TwiDork. (I think I just made that one up myself)

Duchess Delivers Dapper Dan's all around

Another stop in Portland for us- Duchess Clothier. Affordable tailor made suits in vintage and modern styles. They just released their Scotch Basics and they truly are affordable and gorgeous. 2 piece run $500 and 3 piece $650. I say, It's Worth it! how many times will a man get a a suit tailor made for him? Once? maybe twice? Why not turn up the style and pizazz and turn down the chunk of change it would cost anywhere else.
Potsch and I are toying with the idea of a full color blow out on our big day. At first I was nervous about finding him a bright colored and still stylish suit but now, thanks to the Duchess Clothier, our prayers have been answered.
Can't wait to head to Portland and see all the creations in person. I do not doubt that I will touch every single fabric sample they have. FUN!!!!

Twitter can't handle it

I just like I guess everyone in the world found out about Michael Jackson's death and went to tweet about it. Twitter would not accept my update.
I feel slight ashamed at my twitter motivation - I just wanted to be one of the first to tweet the news. Lame. My priorities need to be looked at.
Non the less I am sad for Michale and his family. Farrah Fawset and her family and Ed and his family. big week.

Xooro! need it now

For some reason I have been craving junk food and sweets for the past week and it is not lady time. Eating junk food from a gas station= not okay. Food from McDonald's (for me) = never ok. Fritters from Xooro= always ok.
Now granted I have never been there but based on their extensive fritter menu I am positive I could find something to fall in love and obsess over.
But like all junkies I can't do it alone. Who's coming with me?
They just opened a new shop at 8360 Melrose Ave in West Hollywood. Judging from the photos online Xooro (pronounced sure-ho) is the Spanish Pinkberry only with out sour yogurt and more fried dough.
Don't make me do this alone.

Marina & the Diamonds

I have fall absolutely and completely in love with Marina & the diamonds. She is stunning in every way. I can feel an obsession coming on.
This is her live and sexy.

Here is her NEW video for the brilliant song "I am not a Robot" Promise this is worth watching. Sexy to look at. Touching lyrics.

If you want to get a free download of "I'm not a Robot" go here and follow her blog too.

Hard to Stop

Thisiswhyyouarefat is the most amazing train wreck of food photos I have ever encountered. I found my self upset at the fact that I was getting more and more hungry and more more ready to vomit on my keyboard and yet still was racking my brain trying to think of what restaurants are still open in Pasadena after 9pm. I need help!

Manna from Dolly

This is another brilliant piece from the same artist as the wedding invite (previous post), Matt Dorfman. I am blown away with so much love. I want this and I want it to take over my life.

Simple Brilliance

Wedding stuff (all of it) can get so overwhelming. There are just soooooo many choices and options and colors and textures and themes. It can be hard to settle on anything. Potsch and I thought we had decided on what our invites were going to be but today I found these on Rifle. Rifle has created some very talked about invites this past year. Gorgeous gorgeous stuff. But this one was done by a friend of theirs, Matt Dorfman. I love when people support others rather than feeling threatened. Life is so much better when it is treated like a huge brainstorm session.
How lovely and brilliant are these:

Are you kidding me?

I try to keep this blog positive and negative venting free but I just saw this and can not keep it to myself. Foolish foolish girl. What did you think was going to happen? You are not Kat Von D.

Having a MEAT FREE day every week is a simple way to start making a real difference in the world. The more people who join in, the more difference we can make."
Go here to find out more. We CAN make a difference!!

I need this. We ALL need this.

I am a sucker in my mind for extreme organization. Now, that being said, if you ever saw my home or work space you would call me either 1. a F-ing Liar or 2. delusional or maybe a combination of both. But none the less I do get butterflies in my stomach when I stumble upon brilliant products such as this - "The ultimate organizer!
The GRID-IT!™ system provides endless configurations for your digital devices and personal effects."

Only $14.99 here.

I want to be Brandi Strickland when I grow up

Brandi Strickland grew up in North Carolina (I was born there) where she turned everything into make believe and changed what she wanted to grow up and be every week. In 2007 she graduated from Queen's University with a B.A. in Art and now lives in Charlotte, NC.
Her images are colorful and full of texture and fantasy. To me they look like invitations to a new space. A modern take on the vintage future. (yeah art school lingo)
"[Brandi's] work explores the connection between nature and technology–the universe’s beauty and mystery, coupled with man’s desire to explain and understand it. Symbols of science and mythology reflect my interest in humanity’s sense of curiosity, scientific endeavor, and spiritual seeking. My human figures often find themselves in strange and mysterious environments, taking the roll of seeker, explorer, scientist and mystic."
Here are a few pieces to whet your palette before you visit her site and get your self a stunning Brandi Strickland print (here).

Oh goodness. I should re-read before I post

So, it has been a very very busy hectic week and I am soooooo very sorry for not posting more. My dad and step mom have been in town from China. My grand Parents were here for my little brothers 8th grade graduation. It was father's day. I went to Vegas for two friends birthdays. BUSY! And now I am back and I just went to check my last post as it was a mobile post and thanks to my iphone update I can "copy Paste" and send multiple photos- all great for blogging- if you know how to do it. Clearly I did not. I did achieve sending two photos but i did not get all my words out. and not only that, the words I did get out were missing one very important word. "Food".
The post read:
What is it about truck stops that make you want to crap so bad?
it was supposed to read:
What is it about truck stops that make you want crap FOOD so bad?
and then it went on to say:
Luckily we have these super yummy vegan cookies! Peanut butter apricot!
You can some at gelson's and wholefoods. Mmmm.

I appologize to any and all I offended or confused with my -what seemed to be- potty post.

Please Help

My friend Dana, The Broke-Ass-Bride, has been nominate for the first ever Wedding Blog Awards with the Wedding Channel and she needs our help. All we have to do is sign up (which take a second) and second her nominations (just write a quick bit about why she should win).
Dana has an amazing wedding blog and if you have not had a chance to check it out I would highly suggest doing it. Dana and her blog are what truly inspired me to start blogging. Dana is also the bride in those amazing wedding photos I posted a couple weeks ago. She works hard and I think it is high time she gets recognized for it.
Good Luck Broke-Ass-Bride!!!! We are all behind you!

That is one sexy woolly pocket you have

Woolly Pockets -designed by the owners, Miguel & Sherry, of the Marvimon (where we are getting married) and Smog Shoppe.
"Woolly Pockets are soft-sided nests for growing plants. They love to hang on walls and bring life to any horizontal surface in your home. Because Pockets are modular, they look great on their own and in groups, indoors and out."
These Woolly Pockets are awesome. I adore there look - sort of that late seventies house fern kicked up to an artistic modern manageable home jungle. I have seen them in person and they really stand out. I love that really work outside and inside.
Here is some more fantastic facts - They come in dozens of styles, colors and sizes, and they make them by hand in the U.S.A. from recycled plastic bottles!
I think you should get one.

The Uniform Project

I love projects like this. And for a good cause? How can you beat it? not with a stick, I tell you.
The lovely adorable girl has made a pledge to wear the same dress (she has 7 of them) everyday for the next 365 days. She calls it The Uniform Project. Today is day 47 and she is going strong. The dress was specially designed to be worn both back and front open and clothes and has deep hidden pockets.
"The Story of Uniforms
I was raised and schooled in India where uniforms were a mandate in most public schools. Despite the imposed conformity, kids always found a way to bend the rules and flaunt a little personality. Boys rolled up their sleeves, wore over-sized swatches, and hiked up their pants to show off their high-tops. Girls obsessed over bangles, bindis and bad hairdos. Peaking through the sea of uniforms were the idiosyncrasies of teen style and individual flare. I now want to put the same rules to test again, only this time I'm trading in the catholic school fervor for an eBay addiction and relocating the school walls to this wonderful place called the internet."

I can see and feel the future

Today I had an amazing workout session with Melody. I swung a 6lb
sledge hammer around and basically played double Dutch with 40lb
robes. My arms are crazy sore already. I left feeling pleased and full
of pride and excitement yet again.
Later Potsch and I ran an errand which happened to be next to
Anthropologie.even though we were strapped for time, Potsch came with
me and let me look and touch everything in the store. Now, I have been
a bigger girl most my life and affording and fitting into anything
beautiful at Anthropologie has not been in the cards for me. But
today, after three or so weeks of training ( and still a ways to go) I
could look at the clothes as in "looking to buy". It was thrilling and
so satisfying. If my motivation needed a kick in the rear that was
certainly an exciting one.

Matte Nails

OPI is releasing a collection of matte nail polish in July for the fall. I am very excited about that actually. It brings me back to my days of painting my nails with white out during history class. Or even that time I started a business in jr. high where I sold wet'n'wild white that I had added food coloring to to create some very sassy pastels. It was a pretty sweet idea until you took the polish off and the food coloring had actually dyed your real nail. Looked pretty nasty actually. But my money is on OPI that they got it right. With colors like: Alpine Snow, Russian Navy, La Paz-itively Hot, You Don’t Know Jacques, Lincoln Park After Dark, and Gargantuan Green Grape. How can you not get pumped to paint your nails.

After thought: I think these colors would look good on cute little nails as opposed to long nails or really really long nails. Matte longs nails seem creepy to me. don't know why?

have a nice weekend!

I have noticed that on many of the blogs that I enjoy they have this sort of happy Friday post. I think that is mostly cause they don't post stuff on the weekends. I tend to just post whenever something comes up. But now I am feeling like I have missed an opportunity to wish you all well. I can't make any promises that I will keep this practice up but I can at least give you this one!
I found this on Pardon My Hindi's blog and it will surely set your weekend off right!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Drawings to Photos

Yeondoo Jung's Wonderland. Turns children's drawings into Photos. Super duper photo fun!

Romeo and Juliet

When I was in High School I used to go to this coffee shop in Hermosa Beach called "Sponda" and listened to the open mic performers and wished I knew how to play guitar. One of my favorite and by far the most moving of singers was a girl I went to school with (and who later beat me out for Prom Queen - Oh the wounds run deep - HA) by the name of Alexis Gatch. She was amazing! She had an energy about her that I still find rare. She was beautiful and positive and loving and I was so intimidated by her. Anyway, she used to play this song "Romeo and Juliet" and being the drama queen that I am I would cry and cry (in the middle of the coffee shop). I never knew where that song was from until recently - thanks again to Pandora and my Elvis Costello station. Dire Straits " Romeo and Juliet" off the Making Movies Album.
Today I discovered the video. Oh my goodness it is the gem of all gems. Please watch and enjoy and maybe pick up a few style and acting tips.

Pretend Kid

Yeah!!!! I found a set of twins this time.
Odd fact: When ever I think of my future family with Potsch I always see twins. I have never wanted twins but I would be open to anything. I don't even think we have twins in our family line but you never know. Either way I hope ours would be as cute as these.

Rings are neat

I am a sucker for rings with writing. I just think they are so pretty and individual. I found these on Etsy today and really want to get them. I can't decide if I should just get one for Potsch as sort of his own engagement ring or maybe for both of us and save them till our "year before the wedding" day or maybe for both of us to mark the beginning of our new business together (which you will be hearing about more real soon). I am not a bog jewelry person but I just have a thing for rings like this and I like giving gifts, especially to Potsch. What to do? Any thoughts?

Oh yeah, you can customize the writing as well. They even have some "cool" medieval script. And for $30-$36 dollars why not just get a bunch? You could have the days of the week rings or mood rings where you have how you feel written right there - pissy / happy / (the always popular) Horny. There are so many possibilities.

Amazing Cat

I was sent this in a random email and am still in awe.
