A little magic goes a long way

I have fallen for the antler trend. I don't know if it is because it is what the cool kids are into or if it because i just want to be my friend Margaret and all her cool effortless brilliance. She was decorating with antlers when they were just something creepy you would find on the forest floor. Now you can't go into a single Silver Lake/ Echo Park establishment with spying a pair of these discards. So count me in Cassandra Smith. You hooked me with you bit of magic to an already fairy tale element.

Nobody and Co.

I love useful design and i love when useful things become art. Nobody and Co. have tickled my fancy quite a bit with some of their lovely pieces.
This is called the Comfort Table. Smart and funny. Makes you wonder why it had never been done before. I wish my desk was like that.

The Introduction to the Eames Lounger

I love this. Worth the double feature. When was the last time you tuned in for the much anticipated debut of a new chair? I guess now a days it more like getting excited when you see the new ikea catalog in your mail box.
The Eames Lounger continues to be an iconic chair. My Step Dad has had three versions of it as he has climbed the ladder of success. 1st was a pretty good and very cheap knock off somewhat busted but when you saw it in the corner of the room you knew what it was really supposed to be. (That is the one I have now.) 2nd a much nicer but still not real lounger while we lived in New York and he started writing for 30 Rock. 3rd The real thing! and above it a gorgeous Nelson Bubble lamp. Now when I see that 1st knock off in my living room I am reminded that you can always get what you want and have the life you want. It may take time but if you trust and go for it - you'll get there. Maybe some day I will have my own real Eames Lounger but I think I'd rather have a dining set of Eifel chairs (metal please). hehehe But of course I will take both.

This video definitely has a heavy dose of sexism but I just love watching Charles and Ray look at each other. I love the secrets of relationships.

DIY Door Hanging Garden

Fun! Eco and Yummy!
How easy is this door hanging shoe rack turn herb garden? I think this is great for any space as long as you can have something to catch the draining. You could also do cacti or pretty flowers.
To find out just how easy with a step by step how to go to Instructables.

Craigslist finds

I started tooling around craigslist looking at furniture for this project I am working on and I will tell you there are some pretty sweet things out there for not too much dough.

$522 for the pair doesn't seem horrible when you see how clean and nice the condition is. I love the color and the flower pattern. These would be a nice upgrade from the chair that i have already or should I say the scratch post my kitties have already.

How cool is this chain lamp for indoor or a covered outdoors? Very swanky right? Not bad at $125.
I found these very cool chairs for $250 total. I would probably have them reupholstered but they look really clean and in great shape.

How about these gorgeous side tables. They are little on the pricey side but that is why they say OBO.

RC-1 rain collector with style

RC-1 seems like a good idea. "Rain Collector holds up to 45 gallons of water — enough to water the garden, wash the car and maybe even a dog or two — all without relying on your local water supply." This one is very pretty and vintage styled but the price seems a bit steep at $550. I bet there are some cool DIY versions out there. Do you know any?

Magic Rugs

Holy crap! These rugs are hand made!!! The designs are cut out with special scissors. I had no idea that is how rugs are made. New thing of the day for me! haha.
I want these rugs in every room of my gorgeous well lit compound home. I also want the furniture in the photos. The one thing I am confused by is how those lovely cats are not scratching the crap out of the magic rugs? That is the only (wink) reason I do not own the rugs already.

Nature Planter

"Nature is a modern ceramic planter intended for growing a variety of herbs and flowers. The form takes inspiration from patterns and shapes found in nature, hence the name. The largest opening at the top can hold plants that need to root deeper. Opening like a blossom, the form allows each pocket to collect water.

The planter is made using a complex six-part mold (compared to the typical two to four part mold) with seventeen post-molding cuts. Each piece is carefully cast, hand-finished and glazed in Portland, Oregon. Three holes on the bottom allow for drainage. The planter is suitable for indoor and outdoor use."

I am racing out the door but I ad to post this. I love this design and concept. I actually think I could garden with something this pretty. I know a few people who are going to go bonkers for this design.

Rubie Green

Check out these cool fabrics. You can make a lame chair luxurious or drab bed delicious and all in an eco friendly way!

Rubie Green
- "Our team performed months of research, attended trade shows and participated in conferences to find what we believe is the most eco-friendly printing method available. Our upholstery fabrics are made of 100% certified organic cotton, which is whitened without bleach and printed here in the US. We print with water-based, non-toxic inks that contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), and utilize a printing process that minimizes water consumption. In fact, the factory uses only one gallon of water per day! This was an exciting discovery for our team as water plays such an integral role in most other methods of printing. We also wanted to avoid fabric waste so we decided to print only on demand, using heat and pressure to finish our fabrics instead of chemicals."

One gallon of water?! That is amazing.

Together, we can change lives one thread at a time..."

These pillows are gorgeous! The website is great too. You can see pictures and read stories of the women who created your pillow. I like when people work together to create goodness and beauty.

small spaces

I love this idea for a small bedroom space. I face and head get a little nervous about the cupboards crashing down on them but as long as someone with real handyman expertise installs them I think I could get over it. I love the pop of color with all the white. Makes me think of a very cool teenage girls room. The kind of teenage girl that travels to Paris and New York and Berlin with her allowance savings. (that was not me)
