It is way past time

Holy Moly! My roots have taken over my head and my emotional state. Moving and packing and planning a wedding and attending my friends wedding parties has cause my hair to grow fast and leave no time for dying. Luckily I have an hour this Saturday between wedding cupcake tasting, a friends play, unpacking and my parents coming to see our new home to have a stranger color my hair. At this point I may just swich my head around in a bucket of bleach.
My friend and brilliant hair dresser, Addie, is about to pop with a baby girl so she is sending me to Nikki at Sugar in Echo Park. fingers crossed!

I know I am a little rambly today. Please excuse. But here is a little more ramble...
My hair is crazy long...for me...right now. I want to chop it off so bad. I was growing it so I would have some options for the wedding but at this point I just want it gone. What do I do? Stick it out for two more months and know I can cut it after or Go for it now?

The Devil must've been beatin' his wife

Last night after yoga I came out to one of the most beautiful just before dark sky's. The colors were amazing and mysterious. The temperature was balmy and there was a slight sprinkling of fat rain drops. As a kid I was told "The devil must be beatin' his wife" when it was raining and hot. A creepy visual for such a stunning reality.

Wedding Update! Oh the nightmares

It has started. The dreaded wedding nightmares. What makes it all worse is that we are in the dead of summer in Pasadena on the second floor with no AC and a fan that doesn't do much but blow hot air. If I am not waking up from swimming in a pool of sweat then it is from my wedding nightmares.
These fantasy wedding catastrophes have me clenching my jaw through sleep so hard that I had to have an emergency root canal last Monday. No Joke! Is it all worth it? God, I hope so!
The main focus in these foggy tales have been our invitations and me having never sent them out which results in no one showing up. My stomach is turning just typing about it. To make matters a touch worse I can't find my wedding binder anywhere. I am trying to breathe through it but really I am prepping for a massive migraine.
My weak remedy: To consciously dream about facials and massages.

Hopefully, whatever does happen on our real wedding day will make us laugh years later.

Worth the Risk?

Ever since I saw and posted about that gorgeous Punk Bride I can not stop thinking about her. I love how simple her gown was and I really thought it showcased her personal style so well. I mean, she is covered in colorful tattoos. Anything else but her elegant white strapless dress would have been over kill. So I did some searching and I happened to find what I believe to be her exact dress. I found it on the David's Bridal website of all places. The dress is on sale for only $249!!!! I mean come on! But here is the hitch - it is an online exclusive not available in stores. So what now? I have not even tried on a single wedding dress. I don't even know if I look better in white or Ivory. I also am not covered in tattoos. The few I have definite don't come any where close to being as colorful and bedazzled as our Punk Bride. Would a simple plain dress look good on simple plain me? I am so tempted to just go for it. I find that I can spend so much time on stuff but all of a sudden I get to a point where none of it matters anymore and I just go. It is not a bad thing. I find it to be an efficient thing. No more talking. No more analyzing every single possibility. Just action. Just go.
I think the best thing for me to do at this point is to try on something anywhere. It doesn't matter if it is at David's Bridal or Klienfeld's. Just grab some white and throw it on. And then I will know if I look better in white or ivory and maybe I look the best in bright blue.
ah, but there is something so tasty about ordering online, getting a package and being done. Is that crazy?

Curves in all the right places

I am a stylish big girl. Most of the time I love it but I ain't gonna lie, some of the time it can get a bit hard. Finding trendy fashions is definitely a time consuming out of the box thinking adventure for us ladies of size. Sometimes I dream about starting a clothing / life style line for us "chubbettes" but I have a few things to get done before that happens.
I was watching "Say yes to the Dress" (marathon every fri night) and the episode was focused on plus size girls and how hard it is for them to find modern wedding dress styles to fit them. Ofcourse the episode ends with all these women finding dresses and they were all happy and that is great but I was still left with the bitter taste of "settling". I stress so much about finding a wedding dress because I don't want to have an emotional breakdown every time I fall in love with a dress just to struggle and sweat and not get it over my hips. It makes me ache just to think about it. So much so that I have yet to venture out to any wedding dress shops. Sure I have the whole day planned and Potsch even has his suit already but I might just show up in one of those African MooMoo's they randomly sell so many of at Ross.
This post is a bit of a ramble and not at all what I was meaning to say but I definitely want to get this out. I think there are plenty of ladies out there that feel like this. We are smart, stylish and edgy, with out being goth or medieval, we have a definite eye for fashion and the only thing that makes us any different from the rest is that we have a few more inches. Unless I am mistaken can't these dress makers just add a bit more fabric? When I picture my wedding day I image myself to be gorgeous and breathtaking and just as deserving of these feeling as any other woman.
I have seen some of the fashion industry embracing us Plus' a bit more. I get a huge look of shock every time I find a new Cool and Hip plus size division of a store. When I was in London a few years back all the cool shops carried their regular clothes in plus sizes. It was the first time I bought a fashion belt for myself. It felt amazing to be so trendy. Sounds lame maybe but it really was a huge turning point for me.
My last point is this - Us Ladies of size have style. We have money. We are gorgeous and very sexy. And we want to feel that way. So, retailer, give it up. It is time you stop ignoring the Power House.
