Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Can you believe it? I still have my party hat on from New Years 2010. With Thanksgiving comes family, fun, naps and lots of delicious food. Sometimes I like having the left overs even more than the first meal but that may just be cause I am blessed with one of the best Chef's around as my mom, Show Food Chef's Cathy.
If you are looking to livin' up your annual menu or just want some food porn to get you through the day this is the place. Be sure to check out this Thanksgiving post cause there is a photo of me hiding in there among all the delicious recipe links.

Healthy snack
I am addicted to kale. I love it. I love it. I love it. I seriously can not get enough of it. The other night I was out to dinner with all my ladies and their men and a discussion about Kale arose. When I said I eat it raw with a little lemon vinaigrette my friends gawked at me and nearly called me crazy. But i tell you - nothing will make you feel more healthy and excited to be alive than a fresh Tuscan Kale salad. So freakin' good!
But for those you want a crunchy yummy salty snack I offer you the Kale chip. So easy and so yummy. Get your Kale (any type will work) cut the center rib and stem off and toss around in tablespoon of olive oil. Add a bit of sea salt and some black pepper and bake in the oven at 3oo until crispy about 20 to 30 min. Boom! you have a delightful snack that won't make you feel like crap.

I think you are ready for this Jelly
In honor of the holiday season fast approaching I thought it would be good to arm ourselves with some fun party food creations.
Jelly Shot Test Kitchen has blown my mind with it's inventive and delicious gelatin creations. Many are alcoholic but there are some that are kid friendly as well.
I don't know which I will try first.
Paloma Cocktail

Mimosa with Orange Flower Water

French 75

Candy Corn (non-alcoholic)

I tell you what! Quinoa! Yummy yummy mother of all grains and packed with healthy protein- Quinoa! Here is a trick- use almond milk or Coconut milk or Vanilla Soy milk to add a punch of flavor. Throw in some taosted pecans and fresh fruit or dried fruit like raisin and apricots. SUper yum. Super filling. and Super healthy. You might even add a few drops of agave to sweeten the deal even more.

A large glass of this would be great
I love Sangria - specifically my friend Nicole's Sangria. Mmmm yum.
I found this as I was off dreaming and gazing at Forty-Sixty at Grace. Sounds amazing! Also, I LOVE anything with Chambord - the absolute best!

blackberry sangria
2 bottles of grenache based red wine
(or any wine you like really)
750 ml club soda
1/2 vanilla bean
2 cinnamon sticks
1 lemon (sliced)
1 cup fresh orange juice
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup fresh blackberries or marionberries
2 apples sliced
1/2 cup chambord
1. combine wine, sugar, chambord,
half of the blackberries, vanilla pod, orange juice,
cinnamon sticks and lemon together
and stir until sugar is mostly dissolved.
2. let stand in refridgerator for 2 - 24 hours.
3. before serving add the soda,
the sliced apples
and the remaining blackberries.
4. i think it's nice to serve it from an old bottle
with a pretty ladle
and lots of ice
into small glass lassie cups.
5. but, anything you like is just fine. enjoy!
