Missing my MadMen

Thanks to my my darling, Teenz, I was turned onto this fabulous site where one can Mad Men themselves. Right from the start I was hooked. It is fun and easy just like the secretary pool.
Give yourself a MadMen make over too.
That is me with the blonde hair. Watch out, Joan. There's some new curves in town.

Potsch does not smoke in these modern times but back then I bet he would have.

I have missed you and I made you this (sorta)

Hello Holiday Hobnobbers,
These Holiday times have put me into quite a spin. Besides the usual family/gift stress, this is also Potsch and My first Honey B business holiday season. We have been screening and printing and sewing like crazy! We have also been approached by a couple event planners who would like to have our Market Totes as part of their shindigs! So exciting!
We are also working a big huge (I'm not pregnant) life move and I can't wait to tell you more about it soon. Keep your fingers crossed for us. We are at the breaking point right now.
So in the midst of all that we still have our family and friends to love and adore with holiday gifts...which need to get shipped out.
I have never had to ship out my gifts really. Either my extended family came out to visit or I went there or I just piggy backed on my mom's shipping. I know, smooth, cheap Daughter. Well not anymore. This year everyone is staying where they are and the gifts will be coming to them. Sounds easy, I thought. Not the case. You need to be so F-ing on top of things. You need to buy all the gifts. Wrap all the gift. In our case, make most of the gifts. get all the addresses and all the boxes ready so you only have to make one trip to the Post Office. phew. We were supposed to do that Saturday. We pushed it to Monday (today) and still barely made it by the 5pm cut off.
But here is why - Though I blame Potsch for us not making it on Saturday the truth is I would have been the problem just like I turned out to be today.
You see I can't just let anything go (besides grammar and spelling). I need to have everything presentable and cool. So what did I decide to do at the last freaking minute? Design custom labels. What?! Poor Potsch stood in the door way of our office staring at me with bewilderment drenching him. "What are you doing?!" Just printing out labels, I said.

First i made stickers for the actual gift, which I was quite happy about. And then I made shipping labels. I wanted to make return address labels but Potsch put down the kibosh.

All in all, happy ending...so far. Let's just hope the packages arrive in time.

I figured why not take my moment of psycho Martha Stewart and pass it on so that I can maybe help you save yourself from going down that scary path.
I am pretty sure you can just drag and drop. If that doesn't work email me and I can send you the file. lvkm(@)mac.com

PS- you can get that font and a ton of others for free at Dafont. The one I used is called fontdinerdotcom_sparkely.

Makin' pretty prettier

I am compiling my xmas list now. Not of the things I want to give to others but of the things I want to get. Yes I am still a 6 year old who can't sleep as she waits to hear Santa and his reindeer on the roof. I love giving gifts and is it bad to also love getting them? I think not.
So, I am adding "The Original Totally Rad Photoshop Actions" and "TRA II (The revenge)". Now that I have found these life changers I don't know how I will be able to go on working with out them. Totally Rad is a collection of photoshop plug-ins and filters. By overlapping and combining them you can achieve endless gorgeous possibilities. Totally Rad's website also offers tutorials, free samples and user submitted recipes. The images below are all user submits. The price ain't bad and considering how much stuff you can do, I am thinking it is worth it. Yeah presents!!!

And the Winner is....

The winner of the 1st Sweet Summer Surprise Package is :

Congratulations Cathy! It looks like your persistence through comment leaving Hell paid off. You are the official winner of the first Boots and Cateyes Give Away! Yay!!!!

(Cathy tried to leave her comment 5 times to no avail. She finally emailed me to ask if there was an issue with the site. Upon more research we discovered that "vanishing comments" is just a slightly annoying quirk of blogger/blogspot. Luckily Cathy figured out a way around it! )

Cathy, please email me again (at lvkm(@)mac.com) with your address so I can send you your Sweet Summer Surprise Package.

And thank you to all who entered. It was such an utter joy to read all your loving comments. They brought huge smiles to my face every time. I think I might make a habit out of this just to get that rush of positive love! I also got some great ideas for give aways based on your comments. So, keep your eyes tuned in for the next one!

wink wink: the next give away may be for followers only. So sign up if you have not already.

Oh that feels good

Today I am hurtin' a bit in my middle back. I feel like I got a chunk o'sheet stuck under me and slept contorted all night. hurts. Potsch being the lovely caring someday husband that he is wanted to help me and rub it out. I laid on our office floor and we punched in "How to give a message" on you tube. It was the best massage he has ever given me. Thanks You tube!

Beer and Scoops!

Looking for something to do this Saturday? How about this?

On May 9, Los Angeles gets its first festival devoted to California's craft beer culture. Call it the next wave in the craft beer revolution brewing here in Southern California.

A dozen of the state’s best brewers will showcase 26 handcrafted beers while L.A. chefs sling FREE pub grub (gourmet bar nuts, artisan cheese pairings, and vegan snacks). Attendees can try beer treats like ale cupcakes and stout ice cream from the gelato geniuses at Scoops. And a slew of local bands will share the stage with renowned brewers giving tips, and cheese experts lecturing on how to pair beers with food. There will truly be something for every beer drinker!

The $30 entrance fee covers beer, food, brewery roundtables and live music. Tickets are available online and at the door, but space is limited. Proceeds benefit 826LA, the nonprofit tutor program and children’s writing workshop founded by author Dave Eggers. Craft Beer Fest LA is a new annual tradition brought to you by LA CABAL.

At the Echoplex 1154, Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, 90026

Must be 21 or older to attend.

Stress Buster

Go here now - if you are feeling stressed! Go here now - if you are down on yourself! Go here now - if you want to fall in love over and over again! JUST GO HERE ALREADY!

Margaret sent me Zooborns and she was right "i look at these cute baby zoo animals and i can't
stop smiling. i want to kiss them all!"

Free Rice for everybody!

I should be working but every now and again I try to sneak a peek on a new website. This peek lasted quite a bit longer than a peek technically should. Free Rice - fun and feels good.
I was also excited for how good my vocabulary was.
