Pretend Kids in sweet soft focus

Jenifer Altman takes gorgeous photos of everything and has a lovely blog (nectar & light) but what really stole my heart were her stunning kids portraits.

I started doing Pot last night

Neti Pot, that is. I had heard of this for awhile but was too confused to look into it until I could not breathe from sniffing and snorting from a cold I've had for the past week. So, last night on my way home home from work I stopped at Wholefood and there it was my new Neti Pot and pharmaceutical grade salt for my saline solution. If you are not familiar with Neti Pots a quick description would be this: a small teapot full of warm salt water that you shove in your nostril and pour until it streams through your other nostril. At first you feel like you might be drowning in a public pool but then, once it flows, it awesome. Clears you right up!
Here is a video that is both informative and a bit creepy.

Keep it in the bag

I love this bag by Paulina Carach. The color is totally hot. I got a very bright magenta and orange dress at target the other day and this bag would set it off just perfect.

Harness your excitement

I am a big fan of the thick waist belt. Many a dress have looked far more appealing once strapped with a band of leather or elastic in the middle. So, it should be no surprise that Norwegian Wood's harnesses have got me in a tissy.
What a sexy way to spice up the innocent summer frock or even rock a little harder the classic t-shirt and jeans.

Mara Hoffman

Oooooooo Prettttttyyyyyy.

Night Flight

I want these to hang on the sides of our bed. So lovely and sweet.

Totally Dorked Out!

Oh my god! I am not the most tech savvy person. I usually don't care when new software comes out and when there are updates on software I usually just bitch and complain about how mine is fine and they are just going to mess it up. Yes, some times I am an old man.
Well, I just got a new computer and I love it! And for that new computer I needed to get Photoshop. Luckily I have a new job that promises to be around for a while because CS5 was just released and I bought it with out much thought. I love LOVE love Photoshop. I do so much work in Photoshop and constantly get amazed at its brilliance.
Today, I found this.

I am sooooo excited!!! I can not wait to create and create and create with my new toy.

For Kate

This is for Kate - for whom I image this to be what is in her head and dreams.

French girl shoes

I saw these described as french girl's converse. I could not agree more. I went to school with many french girls in my life and I swear they all had these shoes. One time I made my mom search every store and mall we could find for these shoes but we came up short every time. Now I know why. They really are french girl shoes. Well, lucky me (and you) cause I can order them right here now and they don't cause a crazy amount!

Peek inside - Artist Margaret Wuller

One of my constant inspirations is my friend Margaret Wuller. She is a brilliant artist who not only works for Dreamworks but also finds time to do her own amazing personal work too. Her sense of color and composition does not stay just on the page but rather intoxicates the rest of her world as well. Her clothing style is impeccable with the perfect balance of femininity - with soft delicate fabrics and color, and graphic structure and strength. Now imagine this same perfect balance in a home. Minimal and yet full of warmth and comfort.

My new obsession

ThxThxThx is the loveliest blog / idea /art piece I have ever seen. "Leah Dieterich's mother always told her to write thank you notes. So she does. To everything. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude." These letters can make you laugh, smile and even cry. I love thoughtful simple brilliance.

Monday is now my most favorite day of the week.

I have been wanting to be a more thankful. This is such a great way to do that.

Dear Cardigan,
Thank you for always being there for me. Whether you are colorful or not you always cover me in the exact places that I want to be covered. You provide me with style and comfort and help me bring up confidence when I am not feeling worthy otherwise.
love always,
Khali

What would your thank You note be to?

To throw or not to throw

I was asked the other day my my stunning wedding coordinator if Potsch and I would be doing any of the traditional wedding rituals, ie: Tossing the garter.
I stared at her with a blank face. Potsch and I have not talked about any of these things. I told her I would have to check. Well, I checked today. Do you know why people throw a garter at weddings? Well, let me tell ya.
Back in the dark ages it was custom for the bride and groom to be escorted by the crowd to the wedding bed and tucked in. This escorting would get so excited and rambunctious that the guest would forcefully help the bride out of her close. this in turn became a game where whom ever got the garter was the winner of good luck and fertility. WHAT?! Later, as people became more civilized, as soon as the ceremony was completed the male guest would RUSH the alter and tear at the bride trying to get her garter. CRAZY!
So, now that I have looked into the whole garter thing I am thinking not. But at the same time I kinda love the barbaric-ness of the whole thing. and lastly with such pretty things to put on my body how could I turn down another reason to buy pretty things? Lovely Garters by Florrie Mitton.

Matthew Tischler

These have been around a bit. They have always moved me. I wanted to share them.

Wedding Update! time to hunker down.

I have started my new job here at United States of Tara. I so excited to be working here and on such a great show but...I will be working up to and through my wedding now. I already have a bit of stress about taking time off for my big day. My guess/plan right now is to take off from the Wednesday before to the Tuesday after. That will give me a couple days to get my nails done and maybe get a facial and maybe even some time to hang out with the out of town guests. The couple days after will be spent on a two day mini-honeymoon and then back to work on that Wednesday. In some ways this schedule makes me excited. i no longer have the time to over think any wedding details. Yay! I am also so happy that Potsch and I have gotten so much done already. When we set out to do a DIY wedding we both thought we were going to have ample time for all our crafty ideas. Luckily my "expect the worst" side came out and started cracking the whip just in case time was not on our side.
So, here it is. What we have so far:

The bridesmaids and groomsmen are done! Yeah! I am super excited about all the pretty colors and textures. We even have all the bridal parties gifts which I LOVE!!! I wish I could share what they are but I won't be able to do that until after the big day. Potsch is hand sewing spats for all the gentlemen now. he is so crafty. I am going to make big pretty hair bows for the ladies. (hopefully)

Potsch went and had all this wood chopped for us for just about nuthin'. We still have to clean them and coat them. They are going to make awesome serving and displaying trays through out the event.

This is our hodgepodge of found objects we have collected for our cupcake display. My mom had a great idea to do a sort of found art mossy enchanted exhibit. I was all about it.

We found and ordered this amazing vintage/modern fabric for our handmade table runners. The colors are just a perfect match with everything else we are doing. Colorful but not nauseating. We are making our own napkins too in this gorgeous deep turquoise fabric. Sorry no picture of those yet.
This is our bare bones layout for Temescal. I am going to the site in early June (that was the earliest i could get in) to finalize placement and make our rental order for chairs and tables and whatever else. That will feel good when that is done.

We have our Officiant! Patricia Bolter, the women who has changed the lives of both me and Potsch. We are sooooooooo over the moon to have her be the person to marry us. She means the world to us. Soon we will be have tea with her and talking about ceremony. So exciting. I love talking about us, love and spirituality!

Beyond that I am slowly gathering music for our ceremony and reception. That is tons of fun and also tons of work. far more work than I thought it would be. There is just so much great music out there. I still have not decided what song I want to come down the aisle to. Any suggestions?

Thank You - THANKYOU

About a month ago Potsch and I had a double date with my parents to see a proper screening of The Marx Brothers film "A Day at the Races". It was brilliant! So much fun to watch those old movies on the big screen with a full audience. Quite the time warp.
If you have not seen the movie you need to add it to your must see list right away. You will laugh and laugh and if you are anything like Potsch and Me and my Parents you will not stop saying "Thankyou."

Watch out!

Sometimes I miss having a cool time piece. I am so used to grabbing my phone when I want to know the time that I fear my skill of telling actual time is slowly evading me. What I need is a good watch. Luckily Swatch watches are still going strong with their cutting edge graphics and endless color choices. Not too expensive either. Ah the good ol' days - thank god they are not out of reach.

Hot buttered TOAST

Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! I want to win a million dollars and buy every item of clothing and shoes and accessory TOAST has to offer. Every lady i know could find her style at this classy shop. I am not surprise their prices are in £. Those Brits / Europeans have all the style. (Oh universe, please hear my secret wish - please let me live in Paris some day.)

If you are in need of some outfit inspiration TOAST is definitely worth a look - especially through their catalogues. Gorgeous photos and killer outfits.
