Happy Belated Birthday, Boots!

This past weekend, Feb 18th, was
Boots&Cateyes' 2 year old birthday! so crazy!
It is kind of mind blowing for me that I have stuck with something for 2 years that brings me nothing but joy and fun. I have made cyber friendships that give me the urge to travel and hug. I have found so many amazing creative people who are writing and finding and building brilliant things to share with the cyber world and bring us all smiles. I feel so grateful to be here and posting almost daily for you and for me.
May this next year bring us so may new adventures! Tunes on Tuesday has already become one of my favorite things to wake up for.
Here is to you and me! I couldn't do it with out you.

Crazy Cat Dress Contest WINNER!!!!

Choosing a winner for this Crazy Cat Dress was way harder than I ever expected. It seems that most of you really showed up with nuthin' but your A game. This past week I have been pleasantly bombarded with the lesson that anything can be cool as long as you have a great stylist who know how to accessorize.

The challenge was to prove to me that this cat dress was fashionable and stylish. Well, you did that and gave me options. I was amazed. The winner I chose took it a step farther. She not only made the Cat Dress fashionable and stylish but she also made it wearable and everyday. She made it something I would actually consider wearing myself - not for the shock value of having a huge cat face on my chest but for the comfort of having a huge cat face on my chest. I thought it was impossible but thank you, JANIELEIGH, for for finding that delicate balance of effortless style.

Crazy Cat Dress WINNER is JanieLeigh and her Indie Chick ensemble.

As I said it was difficult to choose. I will be posting the runners up through the week. Stay tuned! There are some good ones!

Motivation Monday!

I have been have a rough few days. Been down in the dumps and everything just feeling like a struggle. A lot of that had to do with my lady time fast approaching but boy can those symptoms really get cha. Then I remembered a very helpful "friend" and definitely one I needed to call upon. "The Secret". I haven't seen it for so long. The first time I saw it it made such an impact on my life. I was so in control and happy and focused. I had just been through a big break up and was feeling so lost and unsure. Seeing and learning all about "The Secret" gave me so much power to get my shit together and go after what really made me happy - what I really wanted.
I feel like I am in that spot again. My relationship is wonderful. I honestly don't think I could ask for a more perfect mate for myself. But I am going through a lot of changes and trying to take some large leaps in my life. These leaps can really bring up some dust and dirt that just wont settle until you clean up.
So, I went on youtube and got my much needed boost. And I got to say it made me breathe easier. It can be a bit scary knowing that you have the power and responsibility of your life but if you can get past that the feeling becomes pure exhilaration and ecstasy.

Here is your boost if you are up for it.

How MacGyver became MacGyver secrets of the trade

Did you know?
You can heal a Bruise with Vinegar
Apply white vinegar for one hour to a bruise. The vinegar will reduce the discoloration and aid healing.
Or
Stop a Mosquito Itch with an Asprin
Break open an aspirin tablet and apply to a mosquito bite for relief.
Or
Eliminate Wet Dog Smell with a Fabric Softener Sheet
To remove that "wet dog" smell, wipe down the mutt with a fabric softener dryer sheet (e.g. Bounce) and the animal will smell better.

There are tons of products and tons of Alternative uses for them all compiled right here at AltUse. Now you too can be MacGyver!

Here it comes

The Honey B Launch/Debut Party was a huge success. Thank god! We sold a good amount of goods and we came home to some internet orders. Feels good. But now it is time for me to get the rest of my life back up and running. That mean you, kids.
I am back on my work out schedule and am even planning on turning the heat up due to Potsch and my engagement photo session early Oct. I am giving my acting career a swift kick in the ass by getting new head shots and finally putting my reel together. And most important I am going to blog my butt off so no ones will ever have the chance to be bored at work again. So get ready.
I'm excited. How bout you?

ps- I found the photo appropriate because I saw it as all my ideas and projects boiling up to the top while I control them and ride 'em out. Or something like that.

There is always work to be done

Potsch and I have been hard at work for Honey B till 4am every night. But we did sneak a day trip to Comic-con with our friends in and a very drunken birthday celebration for a friend. But all that personal time can kinda get you stressed when you know you still have so much work to do.
Then i was thinking - how can I center myself and find the strength to keep going? I will tell my b&c friends.
This is a sneak peak for you super supporters. I hope you can make it to the party next week so you can see everything in person too.

We just got our business cards the other day. I designed them and we're really happy with them. Originally we wanted rounded corners but for time sake / ease / cost - we went with standard size and shape. We got them from Next Day Flyers. The price was great and we got them right away. We used them for our lables and some art postcards as well. All fast and cheap and pretty good.

Also, We got our website up. Honey B Online. It only has a page up right now but that will be built this week.
This is what our place looks like everday right now. This photo was taken at 4:30am. We have tons to do during the day but we really can only screen at night due to the heat and the ater based inks we use. Still, at 4am, we are sweating to death. Hence why Potsch is shirtless.

These are just a few of the 30 or so screens we have made. We own about 5 screens in a few different sizes. Most of our designs use two screens or more. That means we have to be smart and organized cause re-doing a screen cause you forgot you had to make one more shirt with that image is a hassle and can take a good amount of time. Time is not something we have to waste right now.

Potsch designed this amazing Market Tote (over sized tote bag that is great for actually shopping at the farmers market). He blows my mind with the stuff he can do. He designed and drew out a pattern. He hand dyes all the raw canvas himself. AND he sews. Awesome!
These are two of the designs we have. We will be naming the designs in the next day or so.

So, there is a quick catch up. It is 12:20am now and we are sweating and working hard. Potsch is once again having to take the sewing machine apart cause it keeps jamming. I am trying to squeeze in some of my other responsibilities before I get back to screening my cozies. I call them The Fix - more to come on those. I am very excited. Oh what the heck...I call them The Fix cause they can fix an outfit by being a fashionable cuff - when you wrap them around your Latte/Tea cup (your caffine Fix) they fix the temperature - and by not wasting those cardboard sleeves and using your Fix you are Fixing the planet. (They are also made out of vintage and repurposed fabrics). So, picture for those will come later. hehehe

Off to work now. I will try and get some fun things to you this week.
Potsch had to talk me into that quote but now it s one of my favorites.

Feather = Fashion + Weather

A fun blog to follow= Feather

"If you’ve ever checked the forecast and wished the weatherman would just tell you what to wear, Feather is your place. Each night, to prepare you for the work week, Feather breaks down the next day’s forecast into style inspiration that actually makes sense.

Fashion + Weather = Feather."

I love looking at the layouts on Feather. I am trying to improve on my accessorizing abilities and seeing the ensembles laid out really gives me a leg up.

Julie & Julia

This trailer makes me cry. It is not sad. It is hopeful. The idea of just doing something you want - something you love- and your dreams and life will come true just make me cry a little.
I can't wait to see this movie. I remember seeing Julie (the author of the book) on Martha Stewart years ago talking about how she started the idea of cooking all of Julia Child's recipes in one year in her little apt in NY. She was such a sweet girl. I adore Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. Who wants to come to this movie with me? You think I am kidding with my invites but i am serious. Who's in?

Xooro! need it now

For some reason I have been craving junk food and sweets for the past week and it is not lady time. Eating junk food from a gas station= not okay. Food from McDonald's (for me) = never ok. Fritters from Xooro= always ok.
Now granted I have never been there but based on their extensive fritter menu I am positive I could find something to fall in love and obsess over.
But like all junkies I can't do it alone. Who's coming with me?
They just opened a new shop at 8360 Melrose Ave in West Hollywood. Judging from the photos online Xooro (pronounced sure-ho) is the Spanish Pinkberry only with out sour yogurt and more fried dough.
Don't make me do this alone.
