Happy Tunes on Tuesday New Year!!!! I'm starting us off soft with this first one. A nice sweet tune that always makes me calm and romance-y feeling. Who doesn't like that after a season full of rush rush rush.
Also, We will be having some guest Tunes on Tuesday posters this year. That should be fun! Boots&Cateyes is growing y'all.
This is dedicated to my friends with baby's growing in their bellies. It was sent to me with the explanation that when it was heard while not pregnant - it was good. When it was heard while pregnant - it was life altering and caused a 15 min. tear parade. Ah, life changes. So lovely. here is to you ladies and the men that support us. May our children cause our imaginations to blow up in blossoms and cupcakes everywhere.
I can not stop thinking about this movie. It seems to be one of those that just sticks to your bones. It gives you a feeling you can't shake. A romantic melancholy maybe? I can imagine if I were in High School and had seen this my life would be changed. I would dress differently. I would have my headphones on at all time to this Nightcall song. I am not surprised my brother, Buster, has done all of this. He was already gnawing on tooth picks daily and fixing cars. Thankfully, I can live through him.
This song has been in my mind for months now. Makes me laugh all the time. Why are there not more song being made like this.
This is the maternity series Potsch and I started doing 3 weeks ago. There is a letter that goes in the space but we wanted to save that for the baby to read first. Maybe, once it is all done, I'll post the complete version here.
Thank god it rained today and KCRW was paying attention. This was the best ride to work this morning. I love the rain. I love mood music in the rain. I wanted my ride to continue.
Future Islands - Little Dreamer so lovely. Perfect to put in your ear phones and make creative projects. Reminds me of working in the dark room at school in Chicago for hours and hours every day through the winter. Lots of loud music in my head those days.
I gotta make up for missed Tuesdays. Here is Part one:
Lana Del Rey - Video Games I heard this song on the way into work the other day when it was pouring rain. It was a perfect mood setter. Full of eerie nostalgia. I am please to see the video goes right along with it. What do you think? Have you heard of her before?
I can not stop listening to the gorgeous voice of Garrett Hedlund. Potsch and I watched the movie Country Strong on the way back from Thailand a bit ago and we loved it. Since then I have wanted to be a country music star and I think Potsch does too. The other day I bought all of Garrett Hedlund's songs from the soundtrack ad have not stopped listening and dreaming to them. Potsch is getting a little jealous. Any man would. It kills me that Garrett is not really a country singer but rather mainly an actor. I want music from him and I have a feeling I will be wanting this forever. But for now I will continue dreaming and invite you along with me.
Recently I watched "Who is Harry Nilsson?" on my streaming Netflix and my soul smiled and cried for the loveliness that is Harry Nilsson. And on OLA this past Sunday I was reminded.
I first true love happened when I was 12. He was classic gentleman full of style and class, talent and charm. My heart still beats wildly for him and I believe always will. Mr. Harry Connick Jr. No joke. I was IN LOVE with him. I went to his concert. I wrote to his fan club. I save every single item I could that had to do with him. From his CDs to his movies - Memphis Belle and Little Man Tate to the wrappers that these items came wrapped in. No joke. I even have a frame autographed black and white head shot of my true love. Lately I catch myself keeping the radio off and singing Harry Connick Jr. songs my whole way home. He is a perfect gentleman just like my husband and if I ever have boy of my own he will be a gentleman too.
This one of my all time favorite songs ever. So many memories of dancing and dreaming in my room when I was supposed to be doing my homework.
I hope your fourth's were filled twinkly fireworks and laughing friends. For this weeks Tunes on Tuesday I offer you the sweet melodies of The Honey Trees. Perfect music to send you to a shady tree in a park with you lover and a blanket.
I remember as a kid my mom listening to "Nick of Time" by Bonnie Raitt as we drove to school in the morning and the long drive home. She would sing along and seem to disappear into the lyrics. I wanted to feel that so I took the tape and made it mine. She may have asked for it back once or twice but never seemed to make too big of a deal about me claiming it as my own. Mom may have let me go with it cause she heard the entire tape more times than she ever though as I was playing it non-stop in my bedroom and putting on my own Bonnie Raitt concerts in the mirror. Or she put up no fuss cause she saw how much I loved something that she loved too. In any case I listened to that tape until the threads snapped. Recently I rediscovered Bonnie Raitt and so many memories came flooding back. But now as a woman her music and her strength get me in a completely different way. And now I can feel what my mama was feeling while singin'.
There is nothing really big about this return except that it is Tuesday and I have tunes for you. Credit should be given to you, my lovely readers, for letting me know that you count on this and enjoy it. I want to give you world but only when I know you're looking. xoxox
This song has been playing on repeat in my heart and mind for days now. Alexander is the front man of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (brilliant). This is from his solo album where he is doing it ALL by himself. amazing. No doubt this song will take over the wedding world just like the Edward Sharpe's Home did the same.
In honor of how alive I feel these days and how wonderful live is I want to make this Tunes on Tuesday full of live performances and the discovery of someone new who is following their dream - Phosphorescent.
