Sake to me

Potsch once told me that a sake set is a default birthday gift. It says, "Hey, I don't know you that well. Here is a sake set." I fell for it at the time but thinking back I have never received a sake set or heard of anyone receiving an awkward sake gift set. I think he just did not want to give our friends that set. BUT if he saw this rad sake set I think he would be singing a differnt tune.
Adorable! $42

Never Give up on your Dream

This post is for my mom. I was looking through all these great posters by Studio Mela and kept thinking about having my own little girl and hoping that we would have the same great relationship my mom and i have. And then it dawned on me that my mom would probably loves these posters just as much as me. So I picked ones I thought would make her smile. I hope they make you smile as well.(you will never out grow my heart)

small spaces

I love this idea for a small bedroom space. I face and head get a little nervous about the cupboards crashing down on them but as long as someone with real handyman expertise installs them I think I could get over it. I love the pop of color with all the white. Makes me think of a very cool teenage girls room. The kind of teenage girl that travels to Paris and New York and Berlin with her allowance savings. (that was not me)

I knew there was a reason

One of my favorite artist Cristiana Couceiro designed the album art for my new favorite singer Mariana and the Diamonds. I love this combination. Beautiful work.

Dive-In Movie

This is the greatest idea - Dive-In Movie at The Pearl Hotel in San Diego.
"The Pearl Hotel presents "Dive-In Theatre," a FREE weekly "cinema social" combining eclectic film selections, food and drink, and light conversation. The event takes place at our poolside lounge and theater located outdoors and connected to Restaurant at The Pearl. Scheduled films are projected onto a 10' x 13' foot projection screen with full sound, overlooking our vintage, oyster-shaped swimming pool. Guests are invited to enjoy a range of classics, blockbusters, foreign and independent features from The Pearl’s private library."

This hotel looks awesome too. A touch more on the mid-century side than the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Potsch and I always want to sneak off for a day get away. We bring it up all the time but never seem to make the time. But with The Pearl Hotel and this heat and their Dive-In movie - this just might have to happen.

If you are thinking the same thing - here is a coupon for one free dinner. (good thru 8-09)

Still dreaming my little dream

As I have said before I kinda have a thing for Jonathan Adler. And I really have a thing for his Cat salt and pepper shakers. I even considered using them as our cake topper on our wedding cake. Potsch is on the fence still.
i guess I am waiting for them to go on sale. They are $48.00 right now and I don't have enough dinner parties to warrant that expense on salt and pepper shakers. For now I will keep the dream alive. You never know, maybe I will start having more evening soirees just so I can have them.

Chanel no. 5

Sometimes, as a woman, I feel there are certain thing one must do. Wearing Chanel no. 5 is one of them. I don't even really know what it smells like but just seems like if you are to be a sexy sensual woman that will be desired for eternity you must bare the scent of Chanel no. 5.
I might look into getting a small bottle that will be my secret sexy booster. The cherry on top of my subconscious courage. My inner Marilyn. Don't all women have an inner Marilyn?

White is nice - it goes with everything

Sometimes I need a little balance with all my color. This is a nice way to get it. Thanks West Elm.

Happy Time - more or less

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA awesome!!!! I love that you can dial it up or down depending. heheheheh

Dandelion Ranch

I love flowers but I am not huge on flower arrangements. I find they tend to look over produced, if you will. At Dandelion Ranch, however, that is not the case. They do not use green foam but instead a biodegradable alternative made from natural ingredients.

"Dandelion Ranch is No Ordinary flower shop. Whether lush or minimal, our arrangements are not plunked in plain glass vases, but carefully composed in vintage or modern opaque containers which we consider to be important as the blooms themselves. Our arrangement are unique and truly memorable."

The 90's are back

At the Hollywood Bowl last night I noticed a surprising number of Doc Marten's. They were worn slouchy and un-tied. And then today I see that American Apparel is selling, and heavily advertising, SCRUNCHIES!!! I am confused. I guess that means I am older now. I am an actual full blooded adult. The fashions of my childhood and teen years have come full circle. I was always told the rule is - If you wore it the first time around then you don't get to wear it the second time. I am frightened to admit this but there is a part of me that longs for the scrunchy. It was soft, colorful and did not damage hair AND it could be worn as a very cool bracelet. But in the case of the faux army boot and plush hair tie I think I must stay away.
Wasn't Fergie around the first time?

Ray la Montagne

Potsch, my Brother and i went to Hollywood Bowl Last night for a stunning show of Ray La Montagne. He opened with "Be Here Now". I cried immediately. Life felt so perfect in that moment. The air was cool as the days sweltering heat faded away with the sun. I was with My best Friend and my brother and I was just happy. Overwhelmed, really.
what a wonderful song.

I used this video as it includes Ryan Gosling. Who I secretly love.

Also, in performance attendance was, Blitzen Trapp and the lovely Jenny Lewis.
Blitzen Trapp was new to me. They were a touch of The Eagles meets Bob Dylan and a hint of the Dead.
Jenny Lewis was sexy and country and rock'n'roll. I love that she can play, basically, every instrument on the stage. Hot!

She was wearing the same thing last night.

Need to see it and own it

Found this amazing poster at the rosebowl flea market today. It was $350 unframed so I don't own it but I sure would like to.
It has kitten / boots / bikes / hot chick. Why is this not mine and why have I not seen this movie. It is obviously a classic.

If it wasn't for the crow the cat wouldn't be here

This is ridiculously amazing. a crow and kitty are best friends. I have to say my favorite part is when the kitty and crow toss and tumble each other like a pair of kittens. Awesome!!!
I guess those Disney movies are true.

I would marry me in this

I always have my wedding on my mind. Sometimes it is at the fore front and sometimes it is way back there like a lazy retail worker sneaking in a few texties to her friends. But it is there. Lately I have been thinking about my dress. I go back and forth on what I want. Like I have said before there are sooooooo many options and styles and I like them all...almost. Currently I am still excited about the idea of having a colorful dress. When I see big white gowns - they are just such wedding dresses. No questions there. That lady in the white dress - she is the bride. Not that I want it to be questionable who is the bride on our big day but I like odd. I like unexpected. But I also like classic and glamourous. My worry with the colorful dress is that I will not find one that (I can afford) that is jaw dropping- for me - For Potsch - and for everyone, really.
When I think COLOR I think Green / Blue / Marigold. I do not think navy or grey. But ofcourse as soon as you close to door someone has to come a knockin'. I found this dress and I fell. I adore it. I would look like a big diamond. Ha! who doesn't want that. Of course the dress is in London and they only have a uk size 10 left. But it is soooo amazing. I am dazzled. something to dream about for now. I am sure I will have found another dress with in the week. Ha! But for now...ahhhh swoon.
Thank you Joseph M for selling such a beautiful dress.

Fancy things to make your home fancy

I saw this lamp and fell in love. I followed it all the way to its etsy store - HighStreetMarket and then fell in love with some of its friends. These fancy items make me feel intellectual and rich while still being totally affordable.

Pretty Things for Pretty People

Today I have found pretty dresses and shirts from Yumi Kim that I think my friend Nicole would love and look pretty in. Yumi Kim's clothes seem perfect for Honeymoon attire or lounging with a beverage at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. They are soft and feminine and playfully colorful. I think they are great as is or could look awesome with a big belt and hat. Either way you wear these looks they are sure to be sexy.
I, also, think there are some great Bridesmaid looks in there.

I would get this

This girl specifically says do not copy her tattoos on your body cause they are hers and very personal. I understand but i can still draw them with a pen and pretend they are mine. Right?
By the way, as a test I just wrote on my knuckles "kitz bitz". Potsch says no. I say no. Ha! that tattoo area is a serious commitment.

Scissors Forever!

I quite enjoy the image of the Shears. They are a very handy tool. From Crafts to Food to clothes to hair - I guess they would be the tool of life. That said, I don't think I love them enough to have them inked on me forever and yet, seeing some of these interpretations a love deep inside begins to grow...(for some of them). It would seem that this is the time to be in to Crafting. Never has decoupaging been so celebrated! Viva Los Shears!

PS- if you wanna see more go here. there are pages and pages of them.

Coming Soon

Potsch and I have been hard at work on our New Business HONEY B. I am keeping it on the wraps for now but will definitely be sharing about it soon. I just wanted to give you a heads up for why my posting is on and off.
Here is a sneak peek for now.
Also, keep August 1st open. We will be having a Launch party at Flock Shop in Chinatown, Ca.
exciting and stressful!!!

Laura Marling

She is new to me. I found her while stalking Mumford and son on youtube. Laura Marling is enchanting and haunting and surprising with every note. Please enjoy.

I couldn't resist. New Romantic is lovely and clever.

White Blank Page

I am so utterly in Love with Mumford and Sons (I have posted about them before). I can not get enough of "White Blank Page". And though I have not had my heart broken in a long while, I cry and cry to this song as if I am living through it now. Thank god there is a video so I may distract myself with the handsome and very sexy lead singer.

Roseate Spoonbill has style

I saw Roseate Spoonbill posted about on Mustard and Sage and was thrilled when I saw her Flickr page. I like her vintage/thrifty ensembles that are wearable and not costume-y. She is colorful with out looking like a clown. And she has an awesome (what i think to be) kitty tattoo on her inside forearm. I may just get one of those myself.
I am always envious of people, mainly ladies, who take photos of their daily wears. I would like to do that too. But I am not all that stylish everyday. can you dress up cute for the photo and then change back to your yoga pants? hmm.
Breaking News!!! I went to email Roseate to tell her I posted about her and then found her blog with even more photos. Turns out she is German and moved to the states when she was 18...alone! Postch was the same except for the alone part. Roseate is living in Indiana now. AND she just put a bunch of dresses up for sale on ebay!

The Felice Brothers

Do yourself a favor and jam out to this -"Frankie's Gun" by The Felice Brothers

how can you not love something that says "pull over, count the money, but don't count the money in the glovebox, buddy, that's for to buy Lucille some clothes. "

Give me more!

Today is turning out to be a big fashion day.
Here are some fun vintage style frocks and coats from Ann Louise Roswald. Could be good for a wedding party. Give it that vintage feel with out the mothball scent.

Feather = Fashion + Weather

A fun blog to follow= Feather

"If you’ve ever checked the forecast and wished the weatherman would just tell you what to wear, Feather is your place. Each night, to prepare you for the work week, Feather breaks down the next day’s forecast into style inspiration that actually makes sense.

Fashion + Weather = Feather."

I love looking at the layouts on Feather. I am trying to improve on my accessorizing abilities and seeing the ensembles laid out really gives me a leg up.

Julie & Julia

This trailer makes me cry. It is not sad. It is hopeful. The idea of just doing something you want - something you love- and your dreams and life will come true just make me cry a little.
I can't wait to see this movie. I remember seeing Julie (the author of the book) on Martha Stewart years ago talking about how she started the idea of cooking all of Julia Child's recipes in one year in her little apt in NY. She was such a sweet girl. I adore Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. Who wants to come to this movie with me? You think I am kidding with my invites but i am serious. Who's in?
