pretend kids- actually babies

I just found Ashley McNamara's photography site and my smile has yet to fade. The way she captures babies and kids and color are just stunning. I would be so proud to call these babies mine.

SAAKO to me

I am a lover of scarves but when the sun attacks hard during June/July/August, wearing a scarf is like wearing stilettos in a desert in Morocco. So what then? I need a little decolletage spangle.
In comes SAAKO.

Forever and ever, amen.

I did it y'all. I have tattoo number 8. I have been talking about all the tattoos I would get since the begin of this blog and finally I put my some permanent ink where my skin was.
I grew up in a family consumed with Improvisation and Therapy. It made for a very unique childhood. I am a big talker because of this up bringing. I also know that I can handle and get through ANYTHING this world and universe throws my way because of this up bringing. So it only made sense to get "Yes, And..." in blood red across my major veins. It's in my blood. It is what makes me who I am.
"Accepting an offer is usually accompanied by adding a new offer, often building on the earlier one; this is a process improvisers refer to as "Yes, And..." and is considered the cornerstone of improvisational technique. Every new piece of information added helps the improvisers to refine their characters and progress the action of the scene."

All Right

I wanna see this. And I find Mark Ruffalo (did i spell that right?) gets hotter and hotter the older he gets. Oh sexy gray side hair. Such a sucker.

The Sun Smells too Loud

Potsch sent me this video and I find it strangely hypnotizing and beautiful. I believe I would have kept watching if it played for hours.

You are in for a treat! Thanks to B&C reader Layne - here is the link to the original video.

Blurred Reality

This morning I was racing to get to work on time. I had a late night the night before and it was really taking it's toll on me by dragging me out of bed and into my car with out a shower or my face on. To make matters worse I was out of gas and could not remember when the gas light came on so I could not chance ending up on the side of the freeway.
I made a quick shameful stop at BP owned Arco to fill up. I was zoning out as my car was getting heavier with gas until a cop car pulled into the station. Suddenly I was a bit on edge. Trying hard to look normal and just "going along with my business". The Cop in the passenger seat was looking at me steadily as they parked. "Great", I thought, "He is gonna walk into the store and right by me. Just stay calm", I told my self. A very large and handsome cop with a huge white smile strolled to the AMPM with his eyes locked on me. I pretended yawn and he asked "How are you, this mornin'?" "Tired", I said with a lame fake sleepy face. The cop went into the store seemingly let down by my unattractive answer. A wave of relief swept over me," I made it. He doesn't know anything."
As I got in my car I finally listened to voices in my head. What am I talking about? I didn't do anything so what am I talking about? Then it hit me. My weekend of watching Dexter and the second season of Friday Nights Lights has now blurred my reality and I am walking around thinking that I have innocently killed someone. Maybe it is time to turn the TV off.

Oooooo Humongous Love for gems

My mouth is still on the ground in awe of these stunning necklaces. I love crystals and rocks and gems. I love the chains they are on. I just love everything about them. They have this amazing timelessness about them that makes me drool. I am now on a mad search for AESA. How could you not feel so special with one of the art pieces on your body?
These are from the Machine de Terre collection but please look at all the other collections. There is not a piece I would turn away.

Please, give me

I love it long and simple. I am not a great accessorizor but no one can go wrong with one of these beauties from Les Morceaux.

so true

I had a slightly rough zombie show last night. It wasn't bad but I wasn't great. I could have used this quote then but I will definitely take it now.

They've got somethin' for everyone

Doing a zombie show every week has made me develop a love for the undead. I find myself Googling zombies at least once a week. Sometimes I do it for research and some times just for fun. This time I found the zombie fun jackpot! My Zombie Pin-up and their 2010 calendar.

Women do get weary

The beginning of a romantic relationship is always amazing. So much love and attention to detail. So much time taken to make each other feel special with well thought out displays of affection. But somewhere down the line of time the priority list seems to shift. Your loved one doesn't seem to occupy the top spot anymore. Instead they are more of a side project that you check in with once in while and throw a few crumbs at to keep 'em quiet. You still love them but you are no longer infatuated with them. Hence "the ol' ball and chain".
Instead of spending our time trying to figure why it happens I say let's figure out how to move through it and be better.

To me, as a women, I think the key lies in appreciation. According to Ehow's article, How to appreciate the woman in your life, "The best way you can show your appreciation to the woman in your life is thru your words. This is an important step not just to improve your relationship with her but also to make her feel wonderful and happy. Let her feel how beautiful she is inside and out. Women need to hear how pretty she looks. She wants to feel great always and men's words have big influence in it. Tell her what a wonderful job she is doing at home, in her career, in school, community, etc. Compliment her dress, the perfume she uses, her curves, what a wonderful cook she is, her recent accomplishment, etc. Find good parts about her that you genuinely like and be creative in letting her know why you love them. Remember to let her know also how much she means to you. Use words to encourage and support her to do the things she love."

But what do men need? Every article I find talks about how men should be greeted when they come home from their job. What if the woman is the one with job? Women should spend some time watching "the game" with their men. My man watches no game.
It would seems to me that men and women want the same thing. Respect, appreciation and love. We want these things soooo bad that we (men and women) catalog each time they don't happen rather than each time they do.
I remember hearing about Oprah telling everyone to have a gratitude journal. Everyday you were supposed to write down 5 things you were grateful for. Why not do that about your mate?
I will start:
1. He makes me laugh even through my comedy snobbery
2. His talent is a constant inspiration
3. He is a good cook without any training
4. He is a sharp dresser
5. He never gives up on us

That feels really good.

Baby, it's cold at night

Oh I am excited. I am a cardigan girl. I wear a cardigan just about everyday. My blog should almost be called "Boots and Cateyes and cardigan". Those 3 items complete my daily uniform. But sometimes you need a touc more than a cardigan and not quite a proper coat. What you need is a jacket. A nice grab and go jacket to keep you warm at the summertime cemetery cinemas or after a day in the sun at the beach - I am always freezing after that. Well, here you go - Tulle. So incredibly reasonably priced. Now my only issue is which one.

Lauren Moffat just gets prettier

Check out these new 2010 looks from Lauren Moffatt. Just stunning. I would not be mad about bringing these looks into my daily rotation.

first seen here.

The date is set to mark me forever

I have made an appointment for a new tattoo at Studio City Tattoo with Illya. I am excited. It has been almost 3 years since my last inking. Out of all the intricate images I have played around in my mind of getting permanently inked, this one actually sneaked up on me and jumped to the head of the pack. I am keeping the actual concept quiet until I have it. Then I will post a lovely photo.
But for now think along these lines. Some lovely script that has some flow and some vintage.

I am thankful for eating in 2010

I am in a new show called "Zombiénce" with the improv company Improvatorium. Zombiénce is a improvised musical mayhem that takes place in the early 60's based off suggestions from the audience. I am super thrilled!!!
This week we were given homework to get us all more grounded in the 1960's. I was assigned food of the 60's. It has been terribly interesting to find out that just like art is a sign of the time so are food trends.

"In the United States, the 1960s was a stormy decade shaped by the clash of conforming tradition and radical change. Culinary wise? WWII rationing was a distant memory, 50s casseroles were old & boring. The 60s encouraged showy, complicated food with French influence (Julia Child, Jacqueline Kennedy), suburban devotion (backyard barbecues), vegetarian curiosity (Frieda Caplan) and ethnic cuisine (soul food, Japanese Steak houses). This was also the decade of flaming things (fondue & Steak Diane) and lots and lots of junk food (aimed at the baby boom children). "Average" suburban families patronized family-style restaurant chains like Howard Johnson's. The first Wendy's restaurant opened in 1969."

Here are some of the homemade foods I am thrilled to not have on my dinner table. go here for more vintage amazing-ness.

Okay maybe puddin' puffs wouldn't be so bad.

Wood you make my heart sing any more?

Audrey Kawaski is an incredibly stunning artist. Potsch, who happens to be quite picky when it comes to drawing and painting, adores her so much that we have 5 prints of Kawasaki's framed in our bedroom.
I was thrilled to find the images of Kawasaki in her studio working on i_seldom_do.

PS- Kawasaki's images are prime for tattooing!
