Pretty Posters can be Inviting..wink wink

I love pretty hand made band show posters. Poster Cabaret has some beautiful ones. I got to thinking "Hey, these could be some really cool wedding invitations. I would love this style."
what do you think? Luckily I have amazing artist in my family/friends (Margaret/ Patrick / Potsch) so when I get ideas that involve drawing I can just sweet talk my way to my dreams through them. Friends and family are nice to have.

Book Covers are pretty

What an awesome site The Book Cover Archive. I am a big rainbow colored sucker for sites full of just image after image. These covers are just beautiful and what inspiration. Great resource site!

Favorite Book as art work

Have you ever had a favorite paperback book that you wish you could just frame and enjoy? I have an odd habit of collecting paperbacks that I never read just cause their cover is pretty or weird. Now there is a way to frame them and put them on your wall or just display them on a table. COOL! buy it here.

I adore Obama! I am, for the first time in my life, excited about our President and look forward to our Country's future.
So, isn't there a better way to celebrate him and what he stands for than with a brownie?

In the United Kingdom and some other Common Wealth, elevenses is a snack that is similar to afternoon tea, but eaten in the morning. It is generally less savoury than brunch, and might consist of some cake or biscuits with a cup of tea. The name refers to the time of day that it is taken: around 11 am. The word "elevenses" is seen as a little old fashioned.

In many Spanish-speaking cultures the term las onces (the elevens in Spanish) is used to describe a similar meal. Among Chileans, the tradition was known as under the same name, although in modern times, it has shifted in most respects to later in the afternoon, more closely reflecting the pattern of British "tea time". In Australia and New Zealand, it is called morning tea or smoko (often little lunch or playlunch in primary school). Choice of foods consumed at morning tea vary from cakes, pastries or lamingtons, or biscuits, to just coffee. In the Royal Australian Navy it is commonly referred to as "Morno's".

Brides maid thoughts

I found these dresses and, though I would never ask my brides maids to spend this kind of money on a dress, I still think they would look stunning in them. Of course if we have our wallets out I might as well throw down for one or two for myself. hehehe

PS- doesn't it seem like Michael Korrs has either hired all of the project runway kids or is just straight up jacking their style? either way i like it.

Wedding Photos wish list

I have had my eye on Punam Bean since Potsch and I got engaged over 3 months ago. Her style is just magnificent! I love the candid and colorful moments she catches with such graceful ease. I am slowly gathering my "if I could have the wedding of my dream" list and she was my photo gal until I realized she is located in NY. I know she travels but I am not sure that we will have the budget for that. But you never know, things can change in an instant. I am thrilled to have found her blog as well. It is nice to get to see all kinds of her photographs and not just weddings.

Homework

I am just struggling today - actually this whole week - with my homework final. I have to make a magazine cover. I thought "I got this in the bag!". I love magazines. in my house I am constantly surrounded by piles of them. Some from over ten years ago. I love them. I find so much comfort in flipping the pages. Looking at what was and will be trendy. I think I would get an A+ in a trendy history class. But shockingly enough I am just stumped on this one. I have such a clear idea in my head but I don't have the models or the budget to go shoot it and so I am left with the internet and it low res images. Here is my late night mock up idea. I like it but it is too fuzzy and lacks color or the point of the magazine - Sustainable Los Angeles. i am still plugging away at it and hope to put a beautiful final up by Sunday. any thoughts for this one?
PS - sustainable is beyond food and farmers markets

Grey Gardens

I love the documentary Grey Gardens. just brilliant. I was Little Edie for Halloween last year and I was surprised at how comfortable that was...ok maybe I was not that surprised. But when i heard that Drew Barrymore would be playing the party of Lil' Edie I was bothered. I adore Drew. She is super cute and I enjoy her public persona but as an actress I have not seen much to write home about in a good way. But I have to say that after watching the HBO trailer for Grey Gardens I am hopeful. I mean she is playing opposite to Jessica Lang so how bad can you get.
I thought I would let you judge for yourself and maybe let me know what you think.

What to do...

I thought it would be a little more inspiring and motivating to work on and next to brand new TV pilots but I am feeling weak and worthless instead. I always wanted my blog to be focused on the positive so I feel like I am cheating a bit by posting these thoughts but I was hoping by getting them off my chest I could then get them out of my heart. What is the positive side to this? Anyone have any advice? I know that it is a good thing that I am working. It is good that I am getting up early. It is good that I am saving money and not spending much. It is good that I get to blog every now and again. I am trying to get in touch with my inner Oprah and voice my gratitude. Thank you for letting my release and let go. I love you guys.

DIY and then what?

Sometimes I want to get random chairs and redo them with pretty colors and fancy fabrics...and then what? I would have a house full of chairs. where do they go? can I sell them? would people buy them? i think it is one of those things that I should just DO and then see what happens. at least I could post the photos on here.

Eco every day every body Chic

I am working on a TV pilot right now and this is the first production company that I have worked with that is really making an effort to lessen their foot print. We have actual dishes, glasses and mugs that we wash ourselves. We have a large water tank rather than hundreds of half drank single water bottles floating around. We print double sided and we recycle. Feels pretty awesome.
I have also been bringing my lunch to work in tupper wear. It is not so hard to make a change - you just have to do it really. and it is especially not hard when it looks so pretty...
How cool are these eco friendly snack pouches and Lunch kits? I love the bamboo utensils. I love the everyday eco adjustments. It makes it so easy to improve. I would add a cloth napkin in the mix too.

Pregnancy Perfection

How absolutely wonderful is this project? I think this could be a whole business. I am once again in love with the idea of being pregnant and having a baby. Wow, just typing that made me tear up. In so many ways I don't think my life has fully started until I have a baby in it.
Whenever that baby time happens I am definitely going to barrow Ryan Marshall's idea for my pregnancy journal. What a special gift for you and your baby daddy and for your baby.

Wedding invite idea

I found this on ffffound the other day and just thought it was beautiful. I thought it would make some awesome wedding invitation. Yes the original is sad and creep but still if you lose the words about killing bugs then you are left with pure design beauty.
